“Camille’s authenticity and availability was above all, the glue that facilitated this amazing experience. To call it a retreat really doesn’t do it justice. I’ll call it an arrival. Infinite love and gratitude.” – Sonja, Jungle Bliss May 2016

  1. Hi Camille,

Perhaps I have missed it but does the pricing you have listed include flight? (Prob not, right?)

    Thanks!

    Jessica

  2. This sounds remarkable, Camille! I have been researching trips to Puerto Viejo (using your blog as a guide) for several weeks now and everything in me is aching to explore this beautiful town and experience its magic. Doing it with your guidance would be especially meaningful.

Unfortunately, the retreat is out of my price range at the moment. If you don’t mind me asking, what factors play into the higher cost of the trip? I only ask because from what I’ve researched of accommodations, transport, and activities, it seems like you could do a week in PV for much lower than that, even if you include daily yoga and meals.

    • Camille Willemain Says: August 7, 2015 at 10:31 pm

I hear you love. Yes, if you do a trip to Puerto Viejo on your own, it’s definitely cheaper than that. However facilitating and planning a retreat is a ton of work. They’re a deep and special experience that require a lot of my energy, that I’m so excited to share. That’s why the higher price tag, my time and energy. Compared to other retreats, this one is actually on the less expensive end.

I can highly recommend you check out my eBook with all of my guidance on Costa Rica as a whole, including packing list, safety tips, sustainability, etc. here:

In the future I hope to open a yoga hostel that offers packages for all kinds of travelers and price ranges. Would love to meet you one day! xx

    • Paige,

I am feeling the same way you are, in regards to having this burning desire to come visit Costa Rica! Maybe we could go together 😉

  3. This sounds like a dream come true! I would be flying in from PDX (Vancouver. Wa) and hope to come in January, do you have an inside scoop on getting a good flight deal or should I just keep my eyes open? And what do we need to qualify, I noticed you said 8, how and when would I know if I am one of the 8?

    Thanks!

  11. Hello Camille,

You are an inspiration! I love how you flow with life. I would love to come to Costa Rica for a yoga/meditation retreat over the New Year (perhaps, Dec 29 – Jan 2). Do you have any suggestions?

A little about me, I am a single, 34-year old New Yorker, completely unattached and looking for a simple life. I started my professional life in the Peace Corps and ended up caught in the corporate world. Four years ago, I decided to change all that and am working in higher ed while I get a masters degree in organizational psychology and coaching. I am a certified health coach and training to be able to teach mindful meditation. Once I graduate in May, I am looking to go where ever and do whatever the world wants of me. I have Costa Rica on my mind and so I am looking to come visit.

Do you have any suggestions you could offer? I am so grateful for you and your stories.

    Love and best wishes,
    Keri

Hi sweetie thank you so much!! You sound wonderful I wish you were coming on our retreat!! 😉 I’ve heard really good things about Montezuma Yoga, I personally LOVVVEEE Pavones Yoga Center which is doing a YTT in January, and Blue Osa is really wonderful too. xoxo PS do you already have a copy of my ebook The Ultimate Guide to Costa Rica? It is full of my recommendations!!

  13. Hey Camille!
This may be an odd question, but here it goes: If a gay male friend of mine wanted to attend a retreat, would it be cool?
If it helps, he’s uber adorable.

    • Camille Willemain Says: November 11, 2015 at 2:40 pm

Hey sweetie, ohhhhh I’m sure he is!! These first retreats are women’s only, and actually they are already completely full! BUUUTT I do eventually want to do some co-ed retreats, once I have the right space and more experience. Love to you and your uber adorable friend :)

  14. Megan Pennington Says: December 15, 2015 at 8:51 am

Hmmm! I will be in Puerto Viejo during the January retreat! As I already have accommodation booked (and as I am travelling with a male, gasp :P) I will not be able to join. However is there the possibility of meeting you Camille for a yoga class or reiki session?? Just a thought. xx

    • Camille Willemain Says: December 16, 2015 at 6:59 am

Hey dearest, during the retreat I am totally offline and out of commission, buuuuttt in January and February outside of those dates I will be around teaching yoga and offering Reiki :) Let me know when you’re there xo

  15. Can you please send me info regarding where the retreat will take place and where we will be staying specifically? Do you have pics? also, do you have a itinerary for the scheduled events that you can email me? also, can you give me info on good flight deals to the retreat?

    • Camille Willemain Says: January 18, 2016 at 9:05 am

  24. HI Camille, I signed up for the Oct retreat. I know its a ways away, but when will we get infor regarding the airport arrivals/which airport/visitors visa needed? General info? Can wait for October!

    XOXO

    • Camille Willemain Says: February 9, 2016 at 8:50 pm

Hey love, so excited you’re coming!! The airport is San Jose (airport code SJO) and the shuttle will pick you up at 1:00pm near to the airport, so best to get in by 11am or the night before. Don’t worry about the visa, it’s upon arrival, you just need to make sure to have an exit ticket home to show them. I will send you more deets soon :) xo

  25. Hi Camille,

I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog and as a semi-retired, single/divorced mother of 2, your retreat sounds wonderful. But…

My concerns are based on your pics: all of your participants seem to be very young, fit women who already know and practice yoga and who appear completely comfortable with your ‘cuddle puddles’.

Although your written description of the retreat sounds fantastic, I’m concerned I wouldn’t be comfortable or accepted as a member of the retreat. I’m in my 40s, overweight, no experience with yoga (but intrigued by it) and probably wouldn’t feel comfortable cuddle puddling with any group of people I don’t know…Even though I’m very friendly and hug people often-strangers included…”cuddling” with strangers, for me, is a little over the top.

As delicately as possible I ask you…is it possible your pics were selected to market specifically only to beautiful young/fit, yoga-knowledgeable people? Have you had other clients attend who do not fit that mold?

I promise I won’t be offended if you suggest I look elsewhere…I would just appreciate an honest response.

    Thanks and pura vida!

    • Camille Willemain Says: February 12, 2016 at 11:58 am

Hi Peggy, I so appreciate your comment and your honesty. On my last retreat I had a 21 year old, two 31 year olds, moms in their thirties and forties, and even moms turning 50. They had varying levels of fitness, experience in yoga, and comfort with intimacy. Anyone with an open heart and a pure intention is welcome to join! That said, the retreat IS quite active. We ride bicycles to get to the beaches, we do an energizing morning yoga practice and a relaxing evening yoga practice, and exploring some of the most beautiful nature does require hiking up so muddy trails. We also do practices in yoga and women’s circles to facilitate intimacy. I realize this retreat isn’t what everyone is looking for, some people want pure rest and restore, also beautiful, but this retreat is a combination of adventure/activity and also restoration and relaxation. I hope that helps! And I hope you know, that wherever you are at and whatever kind of retreat experience you are looking for, is absolutely perfect <3

      • Hi there ive been trying to contact you via facebook, im travelling to costa rica on my own to do volunteering, and then im exploring costa rica but have no plan or idea where to go or how to get there, if you could just give me some tips and some ideas of where and what i can do that would be great. thanks :) x

      • I really do appreciate your response Camille, for your honesty and sincerity. Perhaps one day I’ll be brave enough and confident enough to join one of your retreats. For now, I think I will follow your adventures and living a little vicariously, maybe. :-)

  28. Hi Camille :) bit of a random question, but I was wondering where you gained your qualifications in Reiki? Was it in Costa Rica or back in the US? I’m planning to practice Reiki this year and am undecided whether to study at home (the UK) or somewhere more exotic. Obviously I’m swaying more towards exotic places like Costa Rica (because hello sunshine, nature and coconuts) so any advice you have would be great!

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

p.s. I always look forward to your posts and they’re really inspiring, so thank you!

    • Camille Willemain Says: February 27, 2016 at 5:05 pm

Thanks Rebecca! I did my Reiki Level I and Level II here in Costa Rica. I also did a training in Reiki in Cambodia too, but to be honest the style didn’t resonate with me as much. I feel that a teacher who encourages both connection with intuition along with a solid understanding of the energy body is the kind that I connect with most. The training just lasts a few days, so it’s nice to incorporate it into another trip if you can. Excited for you on your Reiki journey!! It’s a truly life changing one :)

  29. Great, thanks Camille :) I’m so excited to explore Reiki and find a teacher I connect with

I will be backpacking Costa Rica for 3 months and hoping to spend a month of that getting certified so any recs would be so helpful!
